About Me
Hi, I’m Emma — the founder of Compass Accounting.
I started my accounting training in 2019, working in audit for a firm in London. I loved the technical challenge, but what really stayed with me was the people. My favourite part of every audit was getting to know the business owners, hearing their stories and seeing the passion behind what they’d built.
In 2021, after having my first baby, I moved to Cornwall and joined a large professional services firm in the South West. I had my second baby in 2023, and around the same time I completed my ACA exams. Working with a wide range of clients gave me a real understanding of what good systems, processes and financial management look like in practice.
But I also realised something important:
I didn’t want to be the person who turned up once a year, asked a lot of questions, and then disappeared again. I wanted to be more involved. I wanted to support clients throughout the year, not just during an audit window. And I wanted to build relationships that felt more like partnerships than transactions.
That’s why I started Compass Accounting.
A practice built around people, not paperwork
Compass Accounting is designed to be friendly, flexible and genuinely supportive. I work with individuals, sole traders and small businesses who love what they do and want an accountant who’s invested in their success.
I’m organised, clear in my communication and not afraid of a messy set of books. In fact, I enjoy the problem‑solving. I love putting systems in place, streamlining processes and helping clients feel more in control.
Because I’m building this practice around my family, I understand how important balance is. I want my clients to have that same freedom — more time for the things that matter, both in their business and in their life, and less time worrying about their accounts.
